Warehouse Splitting Suspended for 30 Days! Amazon Tightens Scrutiny on “Far Warehouse Booked, Near Warehouse Delivered” — Sellers’ Guide to Stopping Losses and Locking In Compliant Warehousing!

Recently, a large number of US marketplace sellers have received Amazon performance notifications – because inbound shipments were repeatedly routed to the wrong fulfillment center regions, the "Amazon-optimized shipment splits" option on their accounts has been disabled for 30 days. In other words, free multi-point warehouse splitting is no longer available.

A batch of US marketplace sellers has received Amazon performance notifications. This round of enforcement is tracing back to shipments inbounded in July and August. That means operations from one or two months ago are now being held accountable.

01 What Exactly Is Being Punished by "No Warehouse Splitting for 30 Days"?

Many sellers in group chats have said "can't ship for 30 days," but that phrasing is inaccurate. The exact wording in Amazon's official notice is:

"If you fail to resolve the inbound transportation violations found on your account, your 'Amazon-optimized shipment splits' option will be disabled for 30 days. We are taking this action because your account has repeatedly routed FBA inbound shipments to the wrong fulfillment center regions."

Translated, this means:

  • What is disabled is "Amazon-optimized shipment splits." This option originally waived placement fees, provided each ASIN had at least 5 identical boxes or pallets, with consistent quantities per box and mixed packing.
  • During these 30 days, sellers can only use "minimal shipment splits," sending goods to as few warehouse locations as possible, and then paying inbound placement service fees per unit.

Amazon will directly list violation samples in the notice, for example: planned destination CLT2 (US East), actual delivery LGB8 (US West); planned destination MDW2 (US Central), actual delivery LGB8 (US West). Goods destined for the Central and East regions all ended up in West Coast warehouses – this is "far warehouse booked, near warehouse delivered" or "East warehouse booked, West warehouse delivered."

02 Three Types of "Wrong Warehouse Delivery" – Completely Different in Nature

✅ Situation 1: Amazon proactively reroutes the warehouse
When the target warehouse is near capacity saturation, the platform proactively adjusts and sends an email notification, leaving a record, and does not affect seller performance.

✅ Situation 2: Last-mile sorting error
When devanning and sorting, the FBA warehouse code was not properly verified – this is an operational error.

❌ Situation 3: Far warehouse booked, near warehouse delivered (key focus)
Shipping to a closer, cheaper warehouse instead of the warehouse address corresponding to the order placed in the backend. This is the primary target of this enforcement round. If you confirm the shipment was delivered as planned, you can apply for an investigation within 90 days of receiving the shipment problem notification.

02 Peak Season Is Here – Goods Cannot Stop

We are currently in the critical Q4 peak-season stocking period. Here are three methods to consider:

Option 1: If you need to ship within 30 days, choose the official SEND channel!

SEND Preferred Warehouse locks in popular warehouse locations, reducing overall freight costs by up to 15%, with full compliance. This is the official channel that allows direct shipping within 30 days while saving money. Several advantages of SEND Preferred Warehouse directly offset the pain points of this penalty:

  • Predictable warehouse locations: Once the order is placed, the preferred FBA warehouse location is locked in – no more being randomly assigned to remote, unpopular warehouses.
  • Calculable costs: Consolidated shipping, route optimization, and avoiding last-mile premiums caused by remote warehouses can reduce overall freight costs by up to 15%.
  • Dual coverage by sea and air: Sea freight warehouse lock-in focuses on "scale for cost," suitable for regular FCL/LCL stocking; air freight warehouse lock-in focuses on "lock-in for certainty," suitable for small-batch, high-frequency replenishment and emergency stockouts during major promotions.
  • Worry-free performance: Estimated delivery windows and tracking numbers for SEND shipments are automatically returned by the carrier's system. Sellers do not need to fill them in manually and are not subject to inbound performance metrics.
  • Peak-season safety net: If low-inventory-level fees are incurred due to SEND transportation delays, you can apply for an exemption.
  • Zero operational threshold: Create shipments as usual → select Amazon SEND as the delivery mode → select Amass (AMASS) from the carrier list. The system automatically completes the warehouse lock-in upgrade. (SEND Preferred Warehouse currently only applies to standard-size items. Specific warehouse locations are subject to the seller platform order page.)

Option 2: First ship to Amazon AWD warehouse (temporary storage, transfer after 30 days)

Amazon AWD warehouse waives placement fees and has no capacity limits. When inventory for a particular FBA ASIN runs low, automatic replenishment will transfer goods there. After the 30-day period ends, inbound according to the restored warehouse location allocation.

Using Amass SEND sea freight direct to AWD also gives you rate discounts on transportation and storage.

Option 3: First store in Amass overseas warehouse (temporary storage, replenish after 30 days)

After 30 days pass and warehouse splitting permissions are restored, ship to FBA according to the warehouse location allocation at that time.

Amass has warehouses in the US, Canada, and the UK, offering temporary storage and transshipment, dropshipping, 24-hour dispatch, and 48-hour inbound shelving.

After 30 days, when choosing a logistics provider, prioritize checking:

  • Does it have official Amazon qualifications: Certifications like SEND, FIST, and SPN are the first round of screening the platform has done for you. However, currently only Amazon SEND carriers can help you lock in warehouse locations.
  • Can it provide verifiable evidence: ISA appointment numbers, PRO tracking documents, and real PODs.

04 Amass SEND Official Carrier – Direct Connection from Both China and Vietnam

Complete official qualifications: Amazon SEND (China-US + Vietnam-US) official partner logistics provider, the industry's first China + Vietnam "dual SEND" official carrier, FIST official carrier, and SPN Global official logistics provider. Also an officially certified logistics provider for Wayfair, Walmart, and TEMU.

Full dual warehouse lock-in coverage: Both SEND sea freight warehouse lock-in and air freight warehouse lock-in are integrated. Stabilize costs during the penalty period and avoid pitfalls after it ends.

Already connected to US marketplace AWD: Choosing Amass SEND for orders allows direct delivery to AWD warehouses with exclusive rate discounts. Simple operation: Select SKU on the AWD page → select "Amazon-managed" as the shipping method → select Amass as the carrier.

FCL channel now live: Amass has fully integrated into the SEND China-US sea freight FCL service. FCL direct to preferred warehouses, with inventory concentrated in a small number of fixed warehouse locations for significantly improved efficiency. Single shipment, single clearance, with a single consignee exclusively using the entire container throughout.

Full-chain compliance with documentation: From door pickup, professional customs clearance, to dedicated customer service – a one-stop solution for FBA first-mile challenges.

Use a definitive official channel to hedge against uncertain peak-season risks.

This round of "far warehouse booked, near warehouse delivered" enforcement sends a clear signal: Amazon's tolerance for inbound non-compliance is dropping to zero. The freight costs saved through gray operations in the past are likely to be wiped out entirely by 30 days of warehouse splitting disablement and placement fee expenses. For sellers now, compliance is not optional – it is the bottom line.
